OBT - Midsummer Nights Dream

Have you seen enough beauty today? I was backstage at the ballet on Sunday, and photographed Ansa as she waited to fly back on stage. The performance was wonderful, and I'm just starting to go through the shots, but I knew this moment was beautiful when I shot it. Just a slight bit of motion blur from the slow shutter adds a dreamlike quality to match the makeup. You have one weekend left to go see this - obt.org

OBT+Andy Batt=PhotoMedia

I was asked to contribute to Spring 2007 issue of Photo Media Magazine, for their "Shot in the Back" section. We talked about various images [PBR Buttcrack almost made it] and chose this image, shot for the 2005/2006 Oregon Ballet Theatre campaign. I really like this image - it's got a great location, punchy lighting, a story and a fantastic moment for the dancers. To see this season's work in action you can head over to OBT.org. I'm also please to announce that I will be showing 15 fine art prints from my OBT-Backstage series, here in Portland. For April they will be at the B-Street Gallery as part of a group show put on by the Pointe Society, and then for May it will be a solo exhibit at the Art Bar.
And yes, of course the work is for sale - the prints are beautiful 13" x 20" archival epson prints, on one of my favorite papers–Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl–and were printed by the fine craftsmen over at Pushdot Studio.
